Why I'm In

Recently retired Chief Research, Development and Innovation Officer, Procter & Gamble and newly elected board member, USA Swimming, I have been deeply involved in swimming for 46 years – first as a swimmer, then as coach, a parent and board member.  Personally, swimming has had such a positive impact on my life, developing discipline, fitness, the will to do what it takes to win, and the resilience to get back up when things don’t work as planned.  That, coupled with the incredible experience my daughter Margaret had as a Manta Ray, and the continued impact and amazing results Ken Heis and his team have achieved, inspired me to get involved.

Why I'm In

I can not swim 50 meters, but I have seen the value for the last 20 years.  My daughter was an original Manta Ray and swam collegiately. Swimming has been a big part of my life and hers.  We both created great memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.  I have seen the benefits of swimming and how it builds strength and perseverance.  As a Master Perfumer, Victor Mills Society member, and a 30+ year Procter & Gamble employee, I see how competitive swimming creates characters that are long-lasting and great for our workforce. Swimming allows you to have a family that supports you and pushes you, and this is important in the world.  As a Mason resident, I want to create new swim memories and swim families.  Let’s keep creating new ones with 50 meters.

Why I'm In

As a Mason resident and parent to three current Manta Rays, I consider the swim team and the community that supports it to be “one of one.” The opportunity to bring a new aquatic complex to the region for one of the nation’s premier swim teams is awesome.  My hope is our swimming community, and all those that have been impacted by it, share in my enthusiasm to give back through this campaign.

Why I'm In
As a parent of a current Manta Ray swimmer, the continued development of the club is of utmost importance to me. Ensuring that the team has access to first class facilities and the opportunity to increase its participation will help to build upon the successes that we’ve seen since the club’s inception. The facility will also firmly entrench the City of Mason as a major force in USA Swimming for the region.

Why I'm In
I’m passionate about helping people identify and maximize their talents. The life lessons of competitive swimming were formative and intensely instructive for me. Even our greatest talents will find their limits and meet their match. Let’s build generational excellence into our communities by supporting these coaches, programs, and investments that matter.

Why I'm In

As a mom of twins going into their 11th year as Manta Rays, I can think of no better way to share what they have learned through the sport than expanding the opportunity to more young people. Swimming is a life skill that teaches life lessons. I am grateful to the City of Mason for the Manta Rays program and excited by what the future holds.

Why I'm In

An easy decision for me to get involved. I know and have seen two things first-hand: world-class facilities play an important role in the development and success of great athletic teams… and a great athletic team experience does wonders to teach, train, and prepare people for the rigors of life. I’m happy to help play a part in bringing this project to life.

Why I'm In

As a former swimmer, and the mother of a current Manta Ray, I understand the essential and long-lasting values of swimming. Discipline, time management, team work, self-confidence, communication… are just a few of the life-long skills inspired by the sport. I am in awe every day by the swimmers and coaches, and continuing their positive progress encouraged me to become involved with the A Matter of 50 Meters campaign. Good luck to the swimmers of today and generations to come!

Why I'm In

I have never been involved in competitive swim, but was a part of many sport leagues growing up. Those experiences provided a baseline for my career success. These last six years as a Manta Ray parent have inspired me to become involved because of the continued skill-training, teamwork, and friendship encouraged by the team members and coaches. The Manta Rays have goals for their swimmers and the city of Mason, which has driven support for the future of the team. I commit myself to helping this committee be successful, not only for my daughter, but for the future Rays to achieve their potential.
